All submitted manuscripts must follow the official layout, typography, and formatting rules of Surya Teknika: Jurnal Ilmiah Teknik Mesin.

1. General Typography & Layout Specifications

  • Font Style: Bodoni MT throughout the document.

  • Line Spacing: 1.15 line spacing for body text, 1.0 single spacing for Abstract and References.

  • Title: Bodoni MT 16 pt, Bold, Capitalize Each Word, Single Spacing, Left Aligned (Maximum 15 words).

  • Author Names: Bodoni MT 11 pt, Bold.

  • Author Affiliation: Bodoni MT 10 pt, Regular. Include Department, University/Institution, Country, and corresponding author's institutional email & phone number.

  • Section Headings: Bodoni MT 12 pt, Bold, 1.15 Spacing.

  • Body Text: Bodoni MT 11 pt, Regular, 1.15 Spacing.

2. Manuscript Structure & Section Rules

Title & Author Information

  • Title: Concise, clear, informative, and straightforward (max 15 words).

  • Authors: Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide an institutional email address along with a contact phone number.

Abstract & Keywords

  • Abstract: Written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.

  • Font: Bodoni MT 10 pt, single space.

  • Content: Must summarize problem & objective, methodology, key findings, and concise conclusions. Avoid jargon, abbreviations, or reference citations in the abstract.

  • Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords separated by semicolons (;). Only the first keyword begins with a capital letter; do not end the keyword list with a period.

Pendahuluan (Introduction)

  • Explains the research background, problem statement, literature gap, state of the art, and research objectives.

  • Must clearly answer: What is the problem? What has been done previously? What is missing or overlooked? What concept is proposed? What is the goal?

Metode (Methods)

  • Details materials, equipment, research design, sample/data collection, software, and analysis methods.

  • Must provide sufficient detail to make the experiments fully reproducible.

  • Subheadings (e.g., Materials, Apparatus, Data Collection Procedures) are permitted.

Hasil dan Pembahasan (Results and Discussion)

  • Results: Present findings concisely using narrative text, open tables, or high-quality figures (JPG format).

    • Table Rules: Open table format (horizontal lines only, no vertical borders). Table title placed above the table, centered. First line indented 1 cm.

    • Figure Rules: Center-aligned, high-resolution JPG images. Caption placed below the figure, centered.

    • Formatting Restriction: Do NOT use bullet points or numbered lists within this section.

  • Discussion: Synthesize and compare findings with previous literature and grand theories. Address limitations, unexpected findings, and practical implications without overstating conclusions.

Kesimpulan (Conclusion)

  • Summarizes key findings corresponding directly to the research objectives stated in the introduction.

  • Includes contribution/implications to the field and suggestions for future research.

  • Must be written in a single paragraph.

  • Do NOT use bullet points or numbered lists.

Ucapan Terima Kasih (Acknowledgments) (Optional)

  • Discloses grant funding sources (including contract numbers) and acknowledges support staff, technicians, or proofreaders.

Referensi (References)

  • Written in Bodoni MT 11 pt, 1.0 single spacing.

  • At least 80% of references must be primary sources (scientific journals/conference proceedings) published within the last 10 years.

  • Formatted strictly using IEEE Citation Style (numbered citations in square brackets [1], [2]).

  • Must be managed using Reference Management Software (e.g., Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero).
