Abstract

One way to eradicate pathogenic bacteria is by spraying disinfectants. This activity has become a ruin during the Corona-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization or WHO has banned the use of disinfectants made from alcohol, chlorine and ozone gas because they cause side effects such as being destructive and irritating. The method which according to previous research is considered safe is ozonated water which is a strong oxidizing agent for killing bacteria, viruses and fungi. In this research, a disinfectant based on hydroxyl radical (-OH) was formulated and evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The antimicrobial test was carried out using the spray method on liquid and solid media in which Staphylococcus aureus had been cultured. On solid media, the number of colonies in each test was calculated with the negative contrast. Spraying was carried out 1 to 5 times with repetition every 2 hours, the spray particle size was 0.2 mm. Evaluation results from testing changes in the number of colonies both quantitatively and qualitatively in the number of Staphylococcus aureus colonies (p-value: 0.000). The conclusion of this research is that ozonated water can be applied as an environmentally friendly disinfectant in room applications using spray techniques. Spray formulation 2-3 times.
